What sets Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties apart from other meal delivery programs?
Our philosophy is to put the needs of our clients first. Every decision made at Meals on Wheels is made in the best interests of our clients. Through this guiding principle, several important distinctions have emerged that set Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties apart from other programs.
- Our meals are prepared FRESH daily in our commissary and are supervised by our Program Manager and licensed dietitian to ensure that the meals are balanced for the special needs of our clients.
- Our meals are delivered HOT to YOUR door by a caring volunteer. They are not dropped off or mailed to you in a freeze-dried packet to be re-heated. In this way, NO additional preparation is needed for our clients that may be physically unable to further prepare a meal.
- Our client’s safety is of the utmost importance. Volunteers that deliver the meals daily are instructed to deliver the meal directly to the client or a caregiver, NOT to simply drop off the meal. In this way, we are able to ensure that the client is well and able to come to the door. In the event a client does not answer when a volunteer arrives, an emergency contact is called to notify them of the client’s status. Lives have been saved by this process. And client’s enjoy the human contact, sometimes the only contact they may have all day.
