MASSILLON, OH – June 23, 2016 – Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties (MOW) is excited to officially announce that it is rebranding! The agency may look brand new, but its mission of serving the at-risk members of its community will never change.

Beginning June 23rd, MOW will no longer be represented by its iconic deliveryman on roller skates. Instead, it will be represented by a dark blue “MW” with two bright blue circles that depict volunteer drivers, and two green circles that represent the volunteer vehicles and the forward motion of MOW. The logo incorporates the new tagline “TOGETHER, WE CAN DELIVER.”

Meals on Wheels America, the national association, began a rebrand movement last year after a research study discovered that Meals on Wheels represents much more than just a meal. MOW also provides a safety check, friendly visit, and peace of mind; however, the public is not always aware of the care provided to the overall well-being of the clients. Rebranding is the perfect way to reintroduce MOW as the holistic care-provider that it is.

This is also important to help MOW prepare for the influx of clients expected in the coming years. According to information from the U.S. Census, there are more than 65 million Americans over age 60. By 2030 this number will have increased to 92 million, and by 2050, MOW expects today’s number to double. The rebrand will engage the public now and hopefully attract more volunteers and community support allowing MOW to expand and meet the needs of the growing population.

“We want to unify and amplify our voice with a brand that’s bold and strong enough to live up to the respect the Meals on Wheels name has earned,” said Ted Watko, CEO of Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties. “We want to be a part of the national rallying cry that engages the public, encourages volunteerism, and provides inspiration to the nutritionally at-risk community.”

MOW currently serves more than 1,400 meals a day. Nutritional meals, safety checks, and friendly volunteers are the staples of MOW, and these will continue to be the foundation of the agency. MOW is confident that this new brand will not only reflect the agency’s commitment to its cause, but allow it to gain positive visibility and recognition from the community.
