Imagine sitting through a really bad movie. We’ve all done that. Or what about standing
in line to get your driver’s license renewed?  There are a great many ways we can
waste 90 minutes of our lives, and not nearly enough that make those same
minutes worthwhile.

Volunteers are needed every weekday in every neighborhood
in Stark and Wayne Counties.

Community volunteers are the key ingredient in the success of Meals on
Wheels of Stark and Wayne Counties.  They are often the only visitor a client
sees each day.  In addition to bringing nourishment, these special
people bring peace of mind.  Volunteers are trained to be alert
to emergencies and potential health hazards.  Lives have
been saved because of the quick and caring response of
MOWSW volunteers and staff.

Delivery volunteers use their own automobiles.  Training is
provided and mileage reimbursement is available.
Interested individuals discuss their availability and location
preference with the Volunteer Coordinator.

Delivery volunteers arrive at their site around 10:45 a.m. to
pick up the route books and meal containers. The time
commitment is usually less than 90 minutes.  Volunteers
generally complete their route shortly after Noon.

Site volunteers help in the preparation and packaging of the meals.
At MOWSW sites that provide congregate dining, site volunteers help
greet and serve diners.

The Administrative Office on Nave Street in Massillon is grateful for volunteers to help with light clerical duties such as answering or making phone calls, filing, typing, and data entry.

Corporate "Adopt-A-Route" opportunities are available to local businesses that encourage and support their employees to become involved in the community.  Teams are matched with a nutrition site close to their business so they can easily donate one lunch hour a week to deliver meals.  This provides working individuals the opportunity to become active in their communities without taking added time away from family commitments in the evenings.

Volunteering for MOW is strongly supported by RSVP and AARP
